The straightforward version
Terms of Use
Effective date: August 18, 2026
These Terms govern use of the Blabb Android application, developed and published by Joseph Samara. By using Blabb, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application.
The service
Blabb is a local speech-to-text utility that records audio when the user starts dictation, transcribes it on the device, and attempts to insert the resulting text into a text field selected by the user. Blabb has no account service and does not provide cloud storage.
Launch waitlist
Website waitlist intake is currently paused. When signup reopens, the waitlist will be an optional email-notification service, not an app account or a guarantee of admission to a test. Subscribers may unsubscribe at any time. Beta timing, capacity, compatibility, and availability can change.
Your responsibilities
Use Blabb only for lawful purposes and only on devices and content you are authorized to use. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required before recording another person’s speech. Do not use Blabb to violate privacy, intellectual-property, communications, or other applicable laws, or to interfere with another app or device.
Review before sending
Speech recognition and punctuation are probabilistic and can be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for the context. Always review dictated text before sending, publishing, signing, or relying on it. Blabb is not intended for emergency communications or for creating unreviewed medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, or similarly consequential content.
Android permissions and other apps
Blabb’s bubble and insertion features depend on Android permissions and interfaces, including microphone, AccessibilityService, notifications, and display-over-other-apps access. Users can pause or stop Blabb and can revoke these permissions in Android Settings. Android, device manufacturers, keyboards, and destination apps control their own text fields and background behavior. Blabb does not guarantee compatibility with every field or uninterrupted operation after another app or Android changes.
Local data and privacy
Blabb’s handling of audio, text-field data, transcripts, diagnostics, model downloads, retention, and deletion is described in the Blabb Privacy Policy.
Third-party components
Blabb includes open-source software, fonts, and speech models governed by their respective licenses. Required attributions and license information are available under Open-source licenses in the app. Those components are provided under their own license terms.
Updates and availability
Blabb may be updated to improve compatibility, security, performance, models, or features. An update may change device requirements or require renewed permission or disclosure review. The service or a particular compatibility route can be changed or discontinued when necessary for security, law, platform requirements, or maintainability.
Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Blabb is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, universal compatibility, transcription accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss caused by unreviewed transcription, permission changes, destination-app behavior, device failure, or loss of local data. This limitation does not exclude liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Changes to these Terms
The effective date will be updated when these Terms change materially. Continued use after an updated version becomes available constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
